[Resource] Express Payout Timeline: What Actually Changes vs. Standard Settlement

Amazon’s Express Payout feature promises faster access to funds, but the real savings are narrower than the headline might suggest. This post breaks down exactly where time is saved—and where the settlement window stays the same.

The Timeline Comparison

Standard Settlement (before Express Payout):

  • Order delivered on day 1
  • Funds available on day 8 (DD+7 hold period)
  • ACH transfer takes 3–5 business days
  • Money lands approximately day 11–13 (or later if weekends intervene)

Express Payout (current):

  • Order delivered on day 1
  • Funds available on day 8 (DD+7 hold period unchanged)
  • Transfer completes within 24 hours, including weekends
  • Money lands on day 9

Net savings: 3–5 days per payout cycle — but only on the transfer portion, not the initial hold.

Important Caveats

  • No change to Amazon’s hold period. The critical DD+7 waiting period remains unchanged; Express Payout does not accelerate when funds become available.
  • Currently free, but Amazon has signaled a possible 50¢-per-transaction fee in the future with advance notice.
  • Toggle on or off under Deposit Methods in Seller Central.
  • Rollout issues reported: Some sellers still receive 3–5 day notices, and at least one seller’s deposit account reverted to a closed bank account, requiring manual correction.

How Squatio Helps

Understanding your cash flow timing is essential to forecasting inventory buys and managing working capital. Prospect (Product Database) and Cortex (AI niche & category analysis) help you model demand and plan sourcing around your actual settlement cycles—whether you’re using Express Payout or standard settlement. Knowing when funds will arrive lets you make smarter reorder decisions rather than guessing based on order dates alone.

Have you noticed Express Payout delivering funds within 24 hours consistently, or are you still seeing delays or routing issues on your end?
